My downstairs neighbors are growing tomato plants in our backyard, and we are being bombarded with yellow tear drop tomatoes, ruby red Big Boy tomatoes, and golden heirloom tomatoes.

What are we doing with all these you ask?  Well dear readers, we are eating them like crazy.  Caprese salad, bruschetta, pasta sauces, panzanella, and tonight: BLT's!!

Toumani Diabate - Cantelowes

Not everyone is into "world" music, which I can accept. There is plenty of world music that seems a little too chanty, petchuli smelling, must have dreads sounding. Then there is music like this, which is just gorgeous. It's a shame that this man is not recognized for his amazing talent.

Toumani Diabate plays the Kona. It looks like a harp was wedged into half of a gourd and sounds similar to a harp.
The video should be watched just to see this thing he carries around.

How Many 12 Year Old's Could You Take at Once? E-mail
Written by Andrew
Thursday, 24 July 2008

This brilliant conversation topic was brought to my attention through McSweeney's, which is a blog for twisted people that need to vent about very strange topics.
Obviously I love this site more than is healthy.

In the article titled "A REALISTIC ASSESSMENT OF HOW MANY 12-YEAR-OLDS I COULD BEAT UP BEFORE THEY OVERTOOK ME." , the genius that is Matt Schweiger writes in detail how many 12 year olds he thinks he handle at one time. Strategy included for any of you pondering the concept.
I'll let you read his article for the background, rules, and what not.
What I am here to discuss is  the various reactions that I get when I bring this topic up at bars, dinner parties, family gatherings, and just about any other place that I can.

The results of this sociological test have been staggering.

“Procrastination is the bad habit of putting off until the day after tomorrow what should have been done the day before yesterday.”  -Napoleon Hill

Ever notice how little gets done when you have more time on your hands to do it?  What’s the point of procrastinating?  You would make better use of your time to get all the things you’d rather not do out of the way quickly so that you are not plagued by thoughts of “I have to do that when…” while doing what you enjoy. It’s like ripping off a Band-Aid, do it with intention and speed that way it won’t hurt as much!

Giggling Marlin E-mail

Today's article is a combo article that goes with the Old School Yeppie: The Skipper, designed to show that people can live out their dreams and spend there lives doing what they are passionate about.  The Skipper and his First Mate have embarked upon a journey that us younger Yeppies might be envious of not necessarily because we would want to do that exact thing but because they are doing exactly what they want to do and having an amazing time doing it.  Check out this story and then imagine, create and make the moves to have a life where this is possible for you.

"Of course, that's easy to say as we sit quietly at anchor in an idyllic spot, swaying gently on crystal clear azure water fanned by a cool breeze while listening to the Marlin Giggle and waiting for the sun to set to the tinkle of ice in our glasses."

I often awake to the sound of dolphin breathing outside my bedroom window; spend early morning on the veranda (cockpit of my sailboat) sipping coffee and watching the sun ease across crystalline blue water; spend a few hours sailing to my next anchorage while toying with dolphin playing in the bow wake or counting whales who surface or  blow spouts in the distance; drop anchor in mid to late afternoon and watch the sun go down to music while sipping something alcoholic in the cockpit. Admittedly, it’s a hard life but I suppose someone has to live it.

"I am a card carrying “Yeppie,” in spirit if not body.  Those who know me will affirm that I have never grown up -- a fact which is not likely to change in this lifetime – and spend each day in quest of new adventure."

I used to be uncomfortable admitting it...I used to pretend that it didn't drive me crazy...I used to try to not look there first. Thank goodness those days are in the past.

I am now happy to admit I have got a serious fetish. One that I don't mind indulging in as often as I can.

What is the purpose you are called for in life? We all live our life according to a purpose we have consciously or subconsciously declared. A purpose is more encompassing than a role (ex: parent, daughter), as we may embody more than one role throughout our lifetime. Martin Luther King Jr. declared to himself that his purpose in life was...

"Most of us have unknowingly declared for ourselves a purpose which is unworthy of our life."

Who knew that a blinking tiara and feather boa could solve the world’s worst problems.  Alright, not the world’s worst problems but mine for sure. I had been trying to get together with my girls for weeks and weeks and finally after many failed attempts we had a plan to get together this past weekend.  Much to my surprise though it wasn’t just a girls night out they decided to treat me to a bachelorette extravaganza!  There was champagne and...

It suited who I had been and who I am and was a great diversion from all the rest of the crap that comes with being an adult.

Foreigner - I Wanna Know What Love Is
This video just kills me. So much passion, so much raw emotion, so much bad clothing.

This video was brought to my attention some time ago for it's sheer brilliant datedness. I was happily reminded of this gem over the weekend as the same friend would sing a few bars of this heart melter in the cheesiest voice imaginable.

Obviously it's been stuck in my head since then.

On the 7th day they rested.  Well not really, we are recovering from a long weekend of debauchery, returning from a great surf trip,  doing work around our new home, heading to the beach, hanging out with the kids, sleeping in with our significant other, having mimosas and a delicious Sunday brunch with friends or whatever 20-30 Somethings do on Sundays.

Today is the day you can catch up on what you missed throughout the week in the Yeppie Nation.  Have you voted in the poll?  Have you checked out a Featured Link which is a business or person that YN supports? Have you checked out what your favorite author has written lately?   After you do all that Click Here to see this past weeks best articles and we hope you are having a great weekend!  Don't forget to tell us all about it on Monday.

Isn't She Lovely - Stevie Wonder

In Case U Missed It this song always reminds me of my wife.  It brings a nice feeling to my heart and its got Stevie.  Enjoy this one again.  I know we had a Steve Wonder song not to long ago as a TODA but the article by Evelyn about trying to express your love for your partner reminded me of this song.

Life According To Jen (Clarity) E-mail

Are you clear on what you want to create for your life? If not you’re not alone. Hardly anyone is clear on what they want, yet they are very clear on what they don’t want. People speak in generalizations, “I want to be successful” or “I want to be happy” but few of them take the time to map out a plan or really think about what these things might look like.  Consider what it is you want to create in your life, get clear about it and be specific, determine a time-line (e.g. in six months), and most importantly write it down! When something is put on paper it has a way of becoming more real, also you can check to see if you have created what you want. Just remember, don’t be attached to what it looks like that’s simply a reference or the first brush stroke toward the life that you want to paint.

Yeppie Nation is not a financial website but having a good grasp on your finances will help you lead a free and Yeppie inspired life.  That doesn't necessarily mean having your own personal massage therapist but being able to afford a relaxing day at the spa every once in a while without having to put it on your CC is a good thing. This week Kathleen...
